Clairity's Place reflects on the Psalms
Here's a foretaste: The genius of the Jewish people was to bring a personal God forward, one who introduced Himself and bound Himself to them in a covenantal relationship.
The Psalms invite believers to engage in a personal God. This may be unique for the time. In doing this, the Psalms in a way foreshadow the ultimate expression of the personal God, Jesus Christ. In participating in this relationship, the psalms allow the worshipper to express every range of emotion possible in relationships. Everything is there. Anger. Fear. Misery. Joy. Hope. In praying the psalms, we may begin in a state of hostile resistance or sullen resignation. We should end in gratitude and joy, for all the psalms refuse to end in sorrow. So to does God not desire that our final moments with him be ones drenched in our tears. He will wipe every last tear away when he claims the victory he's begun. In the meantime, he wipes our tears away through the prayers that begin our walk with him in friendship.
