In honor of the long-absent Mark Shea...

Gay Brownshirts on the march!

There's not many other ways of saying it. The presumably Catholic mayor of the Catholic city of Warsaw in Catholic Poland makes a decision well within the competance of his authority. A pro-gay activist group, convinced of their own righteousness and determined to make their sinful activity the city's new sacrament, demand totalitarian intervention from the EU. Apparently these people don't read the news. If the EU did take up their cause, it would justify the suspicions of the Netherland's no voters. Nonetheless, brownshirts march for the One Thing that Matters:

“Last year’s ban of the Equality Parade . . . was an action aimed against the most fundamental human rights, guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, and most importantly by the Polish Constitution,” the press release claimed. Organizers then claimed that to ban such an aberration was somehow contrary to the tenets of Roman Catholicism: “Human rights violations cannot stand in a country that is part of the European Community and values the social teaching of the Roman-Catholic Church.”

The irony in this last bit of reasonable rhetoric is so unintentionally hysterical. To support the achievement of an un-Catholic end, the group urges an un-catholic means that contradicts the very Social Teaching they appeal to for approval. Subsidiarity demands that the the EU stay out of it. Homosexual activity is not a human right. Trapping heartsick men and women in a compulsion that robs them of their dignity, harms their health and batters their self-image should never be called a "right."

It's amazing how little activists group such as this will talk about Courage. Of course not. That's not reasonable. That doesn't push forward the achievement of the One Thing that Matters. That doesn't establish the sacrament of gay activity. Only that matters.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. STOMP!
