Professor Bainbridge on "Making Political Hay out of Katrina"

People on the left and right: Put the Kool-Aid down, and slowly back away. Professor Bainbridge is right. A natural disaster is no time to play Red-State/Blue-State. Americans don't need this:
Alicbades has a good one:

In the corner on the right, we have incensed and unforgiving religious Jews blaming Hurricane Katrina on Bush for forcing the Gaza Disengagement on Israel.

In the corner on the left, we have incensed and unforgiving liberals blaming Hurricane Katrina on Bush for stubbornly insisting on having policies that differ from liberal ones.

I’m kind of finding them neck and neck in the ugliness department right now.
Enough. In the aftermath of Katrina and the drowning of New Orleans, we're no longer Red-State/Blue-state, Democrat/Republican, Liberal/Conservative or any other dichotomy. We're Americans. Our brothers and sisters need our help. It's beyond pathetic to use their suffering to make cheap political points, Gotchas or smug "I'm right/you're wrong" utterances . Those that do need our forgiveness, not our attention. However Reasonable or Foolish we are, we're Americans. Remember E Pluribus Unum?

Let's put the creedal tribalism away for a few days. We've got sleeves to roll up and work to do!
