NY v. Boston Game 2

Yankees 5, Redsox 2 at the bottom of the 2nd. The live macroflash is amazing, if unneccesary.

The Yanks are playing smart baseball! Two sacrifice flies bring in two runs. Scheffield has a two-run homer. In fairness to the enemy, so does Manny.

Right now, Johnson gave up a walk to start the inning and then struck out the next guy. What a game!

Update: Bottom of the seventh, Tony Garrafanio takes a ball over the left field wall, just over the red line.

So far, Johnson has done what he had to do. He loaded the bases on a combination of questionable pitches and curious calls. However, he struck out the last batter of that crucial inning to get out of trouble. A-Rod, btw, continues his campaign for League MVP with a home run. He brings his total to 8.

Update II: The seventh's over. RJ struck out Damon and forces Edgar Renteria to fly out to right fielder Gary Sheffield.

Meanwhile, aren't the Indians still down 4-1 to the White Sox? Perish the thought, but I'll say it, anyways: If the Yankees and White Sox hold on, the Yanks are AL East champs and enter the playoffs. Whoa!

Update III: Jack Bennette of Idle Mendacity says it far better than I can. Go Yankees!
