More Foolable Mouth-Foaming on that Document

Everyone knows what the Vatican's new document regarding homosexuals and the priesthood means.

All anyone needs to do is find the right person to ask.

On the one hand, there are those that will find the document bans all people with any degree of same-sex attraction. And that's absolutely right, of course! Can't allow anyone with even the hint of corruption dare to act in persona Christi! Oh, no! The ground would open up and unleash vats of Satan's Smoke into Christ's most holy Church. After all, everyone knows that those people can't stop acting on their temptations. Pay no attention to the heroes in Courage!

On the other hand, there's the opposition, who clearly see the beginnings of a witch hunt. As if the failure to recognize the courageous nobility of the One Thing that Matters (2.0) wasn't bad enough: now those irrelevent old men want to drive all gays into the closet! How dare they expect Catholic Priests to witness to Catholic teaching on sexuality; everyone knows how wrong the Church is about the pelvis issues. They're just so unReasonable. Now, they've gone all medieval, again! Noble clergy that promote the virtue of people with SSA acting upon their homosexual attraction face persecution! This will not stand! Sensus Fidelis, damn it!

Couldn't just a wee bit of Foolishness regarding the document make it to print?

TheThe Marquette Tribune (Online Edition) clearly can't offer any. Behold the outrageous punditry they chronicle from Foolables on both extremes of dissent:
The Rev. Thomas Caldwell, an assistant professor of theology, said the term "gay culture" is a "rubber bag" term that could be expanded to mean a variety of things to different people and the church has not fully defined it.

(snip)

"It's a pretty balanced document," Caldwell said. "People having lives of that particular orientation are not able to live a celibate life and be happy. They can be celibate but would be miserable.

"If a candidate practices homosexuality or presents deep-seated homosexual tendencies, his spiritual director, as well as his confessor, have the duty to dissuade him in conscience from proceeding toward ordination," he said.
Yes, Fr. Caldwell: dismiss the brave fidelity demonstrated by members of the Courage Apostolate every day! Deny that they can overcome temptation, even though St. Paul says otherwise. Banish all charity and common sense from your mind and absurdly reduce living, breathing disciples to a sad characture. I'm sure that's exactly the way to persuade people about the legitimacy of the Vatican's instruction. Excellent work!

He's not the only Foolable on the watch, however:
The Rev. Grant Garinger, an assistant professor in the College of Communication and a university minister, said he thought the document was discriminatory.

"This document draws a parallel to the 1930s and 40s when country clubs barred membership to Jews and blacks," Garinger said. "It's like, 'We accept you as a Jew or African-American but you're not allowed.'"

Garinger said he was concerned the document was released to divert attention from the sexual abuse scandals in the Catholic Church. In recent years, cases of child abuse at the hands of parish priests and alleged reshuffling of those priests to unsuspecting parishes have come to light.

"They'll never say that, but because of the timing it's a logical connection," Garinger said. "They are doing this to deflect attention from the fact that they're not doing anything concerning the sexual abuse. People are asking what's being done with the bishops who shuffled pedophile priests from one parish to another, so they're trying to find a scapegoat. Gays are an easy target and it's popular to hate gays right now."
Fantastic, Fr. Garinger! Compare the Vatican's application of the constant teaching of the Church to anti-semitism and racism! Awesome witness, sir! Equate victims of irrational discrimination and violence with those that refuse to refrain from disordered conduct and mortal sin! Distract and divide the Faithful with non sequiturs concerning the Scandal! Breathtaking!

Is it so difficult to insist that Candidates to the priesthood take celibacy seriously? Is it too much to expect them to faithfully present the Catholic Church's doctrine? Is it wrong to honor the witness of the Courage apostolate and refuse to ordain men that won't?

I think not. Neither does the Catholic Church. And the Church is the one whose judgement matters most when considering anyone's ordination.

Too bad Reasonable MSM and their Foolable enablers can't figure that out.
