More from BBC NEWS | Middle East | Sharon and Abbas set talks date

Is there hope for peace in the Middle East?

Palestinian Christians--you know, the ones that aren't blowing up Israelis--desperately need peace, for they often face a two-front war. Israel has broken off talks with the Vatican regarding access key Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Islamofacist terrorist masquerading as Palestinian "militants" regularly abuse them, as they demonstrated when they captured the Church of the Nativity during their struggle with the IDF a few years ago.

The date was set after discussions between chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat and Mr Sharon's chief of staff Dov Weisglass.

The men said they would meet twice more before the summit to help prepare the ground.

Mr Erekat said all joint working committees set up by the two leaders at their meeting in Egypt on 8 February would also be reactivated in the meantime.

What a gift for the Israelis and Palestinians--and for the whole world--if they truly achieved a lasting peace. Why do I find myself look up in the sky for dropping shoes?
