Musing Minds sees a horseman: Juan Williams and Bill O'Reilly agree "Legitimate ID Is a Good Thing"

The Anchoress point to Musing Minds, who has the amazing story.

Reasonable Dems do what they can to ressurect the 60s. It's as though they have to make George W. Bush Richard Nixon and fight new battles over ground they've already won. Even Juan Williams sees that. Actually, for him to agree with Bill O'Reilly on an issue, you know the side he disagrees with is drowning in the Kool-aid!
O’Reilly: Joining us from Washington, Fox News Analyst Juan Williams. I had to slow down because we had all this fancy gadgetry and I wanted people to see you and not the graphic… Now look Juan, we disagree on a lot of things, respectfully always, you know you’re one of our favorite guests here. But you’ve gotta agree with me on this, this is simply bogus, this is nonsense and Belafonte and Mathis and Tucker should be ashamed of themselves.

Williams: Without a doubt. I was stunned at what you just played. I have such respect for especially Cynthia Tucker I just, I don’t know what’s going on there. This is clearly a case, where it seems to me, you have people reenacting things that happened forty years ago, but they’re reacting to devils that have been slain forty years ago. Nobody is saying that you shouldn’t have the voting right. In fact, the Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, has said that he thinks he’s going to support the continuation/extension of the provisions 2 5 and 203 that expire in 2007. So what you have here is exactly what you just said, Bill, which is an opportunity for them to bash President Bush, to go after republicans, to make it out as if republicans don’t want black people to vote. This is, you know given what’s going on here with Ken Mehlman, the chairman of the Republican Party having extensive outreach to black voters, I think they’re out of step and out of date.
O'Reilly wouldn't let them off with just that. "Dishonest" was more his characterization of the effort.

It's more Reasonable Mouth-foaming. The Dems desperately have to hold on to their base. The trouble is that a certain number of Black voters are beginning to question the Democrats. As in, does the party that becomes more militantly secular and socially Absolute Individualist truly represent them? As in, how many over-promising and under-delivering do they have to endure? Desperate Dems in Georgia play the race card on a sensible measure that prevents voter fraud. Given that Georgia has commited to providing picture I.D.s to all registered voters, these Reasonable mouth-foamers have not one shred of legitimacy to support their outrageous claims. Calumny and libel reign on the Political stage these days. Still, the more foam on the floor, the more the folks will reach for their brooms. Soon the foaming curs will have no ground to wet but the cold outside--as in margins of political life.

Keep screeching, my fine, Reasonable friends. 2006 is still a ways off. Keep screeching. Show the folks what we Fools already know you're about. Then, perhaps some Fools with integrity can begin to address the real issues that concern the people. You know, the ones in which a prudent implementation of policies routed in CST might actually resolve? Not the solutions the Reasonable worshippers of Moloch over at PP, NARAL and the ACLU continue to pay you for. Please, by all means. Keep screeching.
