The Reasonable Ideal of The Absolute Individual Revealed

Jordan over at Contemplating the Laundry has discovered the best distillation of the Reasonable's Absolute Individual that I've ever seen! Just look at it:
"The guiding premise of this book is that we tend to think of ourselves today as individuals —as opposed to parents, children, friends, citizens, or creatures. I have a very particular definition of the individual in mind: To think of oneself as an individual is to think in the first person, or to think that everything exists for me. To be an individual is to be a free agent, unencumbered by church, country, family, friendship, love, or any other form of social or communal duty. The individual —as individual —is the center of the universe.
Go check it out! Read that last line and shiver.

Is there any better description of the Absolute Individual? It's all about me, after all. I'm the one that matters. I must be free to pursue the One Thing that Matters, any way I see fit. There is nothing else of significance accept me. So don't bother me with your Foolishness about being a part of Someone, like some Mystical Body. I'll hear no more of your Foolish nonsense. Just be more Reasonable!

My hat's off to Jordan for finding such a good one. If you're still here, beat it! Read the whole thing.
