The Road to Dhimmitude

Paisanae! What have you done?

The dangers of political correctness is the danger of all ideology. It seeks to substitute what ought to be with what is. Thus, those that bow to that peculiar idol of PC, multiculturalism, see only the nobility of the "other" culture--and the imperialistic racism of their own. They believe the "other" should have cultural merits worth celebrating, so they see them in the "other."

Now, it's certainly true that other cultures have many merits worth celebrating. All should respect what's respectable in another's way of life. This doesn't mean that every aspect of the "others" culture is above criticism. That's not how the multiculturalist worshippers of PC have seen it, however.

Enter Islam. That third great monotheistic tradition certainly comes across as "other." Many muslims also hail from former European colonies--themselves the conquered remnant of a once mighty empire. Thus, for the PC bowers, Muslims represent that perfect object of multicultural praise. It's become almost impossible for Reasonable elites to praise them enough! Prince Charles practically wants to convert. The Mayor of London can't turn down a photo-op with even the most radical extremists in his districts. Now, Italians scratch their heads as the Islamic schools they tolerated without question or oversight may now be hotbeads of extremism preparing the next generation of Al Qaeda:
Having immigrated to Italy from Morocco, Mustafa Ghumar was afraid his family would lose touch with its cultural roots. So when authorities in Castel di Casio near Bologna agreed to allow members of Ghumar's local mosque to hold Sunday classes for the community's children in a municipality-owned hall, he immediately signed up his 10-year-old daughter, Hind. "They were offering to teach her Arabic and the Koran," he says. "But soon Hind told me she no longer wanted to go to the school. When I asked her why, she replied: 'The teacher has told me I must wear a headscarf, and has warned us that we should not come back if we do not cover our heads because that's what Islam orders women to do."

Ghumar says he is bitterly disappointed by the experience which he says illustrates the difficulty in finding moderate Islamic teachers in Italy.

"They told us they would teach the children Arabic. Instead they would preach the Sharia [Islamic law] to them, forbidding the girls to sit with the boys and warning them that wearing skirts, painting their nails, wearing makeup was not allowed."

Immigration is a relatively recent phenomenon in Italy; only in the 1990s did significant numbers of foreigners, many of them from Muslim countries, start flowing into the country. Numerically Islam is now Italy's second religion after Roman Catholicism. Religious run schools, be they Catholic, Jewish or Protestant, are allowed to operate in Italy providing they follow the state curriculum.

However, most of the country's Islamic schools are operating without authorisation and
as Italy grapples with the threat of terrorist attacks they have come under scrutiny as possible hotbeds of extremism.
Extremists, such as this fine pilllar of humanity:
Belkasem recalls a visit to mosque-run Sunday school in Castel Fiorentino near Florence. Again, as in Castel di Casio, classes were held in a hall set aside for this purpose by the local authorities. (Continues)

"There the teacher was a long-beared man dressed up like a Taleban. He was teaching the children a chapter from the Koran, Sutra 101: The Disaster.

"The teacher recited the first few verses:
'What is the disaster?

And what shall make thee know what the disaster is?
The day when men shall be like scattered moths;
and the mountains shall be like flocks of carded wool!
And as for him whose balance is heavy, he shall be in a well-pleasing life.
But as for him whose balance is light, his dwelling shall be the pit of hell.
And who shall make thee know what it is? It is a burning fire!

"The teacher compared the 'mountains' in the Sutra, to the twin-towers of New York's World Trade Centre, drawing the conclusion that the September 11, 2001 attacks where the fruit of divine will."
That sound you hear? The one that sounds like a Bullet-train head-on collision? That's the sound of reality shattering the ideology of multiculturalism. Any man that would teach children that God willed 9/11 has profoundly abused those children. He doesn't communicate from a different cultural point of reference. He doesn't practice a distinct set of values. He isn't even expressing, in a misguide way, of course, his rage at Western Imperialism. He abuses children. He fills them with the venomous hatred that ends in the detonation of a shoulder harness or a backpack--that they wear! Should they fall to his indoctrination, the best they can hope for will be capture on a battlefield and life in Gitmo. The worst will be their pointless death--either killing other innocents or bleeding from gunshots to the torso by US armed forces.

The blindness of far too many Reasonable elites to the menace posed by a minority of islamo-fascist extremists threatens us all. Reality trumps ideology, boys and girls. Even a Fool can see that!
