Catholic Pillow Fight Takes Down a Foolable
Look no further for a great Catholic Pillow Fight!
Tony Miller Schools the Foolable JCecil3, whose attempts to Christianize the Reasonable pursuit of the One Thing that Matters will leave Fools laughing out of their chairs!
Here's a sample of what to expect:
Joe Cecil from In Today's News did a piece he entitled Understanding A Spectrum. He goes on to describe the spectrum of thought from right to left regarding homosexual "marriage". It's a bit disingenuous because when describing a "spectrum", you expect a bit of balance, but Joe dedicated about 3 times the column length to the "Moderately Liberal Catholic View". This is interesting because he goes on to describe the "Extreme Liberal Position" as:Tony hacks at JCecil's invalid premises like a lumberjack on steroids. He hacks away a forest of JCecil's most prize delusions regarding the politically correct American Catholicism that he seems to love. The rest is just as good. Check it out!
Most extreme liberals leave the churches, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of faith.
Since these people are leaving houses of faith, I submit that Joe's position is not "Moderately Liberal Catholic", but "Extreme Liberal Catholic". I come to this conclusion that if this position were any more liberal, it would be outside the Catholic Church. So this is effectively liberal Catholic apologetics disguised as defining a "spectrum". Much like a rainbow with 2/3rds of it blue. Joe starts with:
It is true that original sin causes disordered inclinations in everyone. One of those disordered inclinations is the inability to accept people who are naturally different than us.
This manifest itself in what the Church has come to define as structures of evil that violate human dignity and foster conditions of sinful social inequity. The Church has come to recognize that sexism, racism and so forth are social sins.
Often, an entire culture can form structures of evil consciousness that cloud its religious judgment. Thus, in nineteenth century America, Christians quoted the Bible in support of racial segregation and race based slavery.
Cultures caught in such distorted thinking sometimes see the prevailing paradigm as "natural" and "reasonable".
The Church has also come to recognize that sinful cultural bias has clouded the judgment of theologians throughout the ages. There is what Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger once called " a distorting tradition" that runs parallel to "legitimate tradition".
Interesting. We who don't accept the homosexual lifestyle are disordered. We are not accepting enough of other people with our sinful cultural bias. Joe tries to use that old chestnut of comparing homosexuality with being black. I believe homosexuality can be more accurately compared to alcoholism. Both disorders leave you with a propensity to self destructive behavior. I say self-destructive because in the case of homosexual men, their behavior contributes to a shorter lifespan. Sometimes a radically shorter lifespan.
