It's about Time!

What took them so long? Behold:
The Iraqi prime minister sealed the northern border crossing into
Syria on Saturday after complaints the neighboring country was not doing enough to stop crossings by foreign fighters, and he imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the region around the Rabiaa frontier post.
---------------------------------------
The order by Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari was read on Iraqi television by Interior Minister Bayan Jabr.

The decree closed the border to all transportation, including the railroad, except for vehicles with special permission from the Interior Ministry.
Better late then never, but still; exactly how many times did Iraq and the US have to ask before they decided to close it down? Did they really believe Syria would do anything to halt the crossing of terrorists into Iraq from the Syrian side? Let's be serious! Syria has already lost influence in Lebanon, if outright control, because the Lebanese revolted. Any one that believes the US presence in Iraq didn't inspire confidence in the Lebanese people that the time was right to toss the bums out better give me what he's smoking! Syria wasn't going to sit idly by and watch a democratic Iraq inspire subjugated Syrians to launch an uprising. No, the Syrian dictatorship would do whatever it took to slit Iraq's throat.

I'm glad someone finally got the memo. Here's to hoping that far fewer homicidal fanatics get through, now. Too bad the Iraqi government didn't do this seven months ago.
